Re: Seeking Continued Support
Greetings!
We praise God... through all of you… He had indeed provided for our needs, We were touched that many responded and gave generously as we ended last year. We were overwhelmed that some of you took the challenge upon yourself and initiated efforts to garner further support from your own circle of friends and family. It is a testament of God’s goodness and faithfulness that when we closed the accounts for 2005, your contributions were sufficient to cover all expenses incurred.
Friends, I am writing again to appeal for your continued support of FES especially through finances.

| FES ministry continues to grow and expand as we strive to touch more students for Christ. We are ever mindful that the harvest field is vast with tertiary student population in excess of half a million with about over 500 colleges/institutions operating in the country. Every so often we open the newspapers and are reminded of the Government’s intention to make Malaysia a regional centre of academic excellence and retain the tertiary student population within the country as much as possible.
As you are aware, our vision as always is to see student work flourish and Christian Fellowships established in every college and university. We also want to come alongside our students and student leaders, giving them support and resource for the ministry within their CFs which God has called them to. Many of us know what this mean, having ourselves been beneficiaries of the blessing an FES staff worker has been to us in our campus and college years.

The success of the set-up of the regional offices in Kuching, Penang and Melaka encourages us in the strategy of having stronger staff presence. We received positive response from both the students and our field staff. We are now left with Lower Northern Regional Office to be set up. In terms of human resource planning, we therefore need to increase our current staff force from 22 staff to 30 by then.
In the FES world, Malaysia is recognized as a
strong and maturing movement. We have been
approached by several of our fellow FES movements
in the region for assistance in training and
resources. Naturally, having been so blest by God,
we share our experience and know-how wherever
possible.

It is no surprise that our plans for expanding our ministry continue to pose financial support challenges for us. Our budgeted expenditure for 2006 is RM 1,018,500. In a sense we were only able to meet our budget for 2005 because we did not fully expand the staff team to the level we had planned for the year. The amount of our 2006 budget means that in order not to be in a deficit by the end of the year, we need to raise RM 85,000 monthly on an average. About 65% of this expenditure relates directly to staff costs.
Notwithstanding these challenges, we strongly believe God will provide as He did last year. This is His ministry and He has a heart for student work.
We ask you to join with us in moving the ministry forward to conquer the “land that is before us”. We seek your prayers, advice, ideas, direct involvement as well as financial support. We count on you to be behind us and with us. Thank you for your continuing support of the student ministry in Malaysia. You will find together with this letter some update about the ministry and also how you can give us your support.
